HOBBY
Do you have a hobby? I think it’s important that everyone should have a hobby, one to release stress and to have fun with. Custom stained glass is my hobby for 15 years and turned it into a business. I put out two show cases at the library for exhibition one year and sold every pieces. Now a day I make them for the house and gifts. I like it so much that I got my husband interested in it. He made a shelf in the bathroom and added on the stained glass doors. Just recently, I’m working on a gift to my friend who is in the hospital. It’s a lot of work but the result is “ The one and only”. I often wonder when we do sell our house, will people appreciate all the stained glass work that’s there. I can’t take them with me because they’re built in with the dry wall. A stained glass china cabinet, the kitchen upper walls, the hall way, sidelight, the laundry room, washroom are also built in units. My husband’s hobby is wood working and he also built everything in the house including the sunroom, the deck , the pond. All these times, efforts and memories would be a waste once we’re gone. Will the kids interested in keeping the house is another thing! Sigh......

Pond
My husband cleaned the pond last week and the waterfall is running now. It’s so peaceful, the water lilies starting to sprout. We have less fish this year because last year the heater broke and all the big fishes died. One morning before I went to work, I heard a big noise from the corner of the roof. I looked, saw a big bird flew down, stood on the bridge, slowing it moved its neck toward the fish, got one of my big fish and flew to the top of the roof. I saw it swallowed the fish as I was watching with my mouth open. I told everybody at work and they asked what did I drink that morning! Anyway, I looked up the description from the encyclopaedia, it was a blue heron. Why do they call it blue? The bird was all white with silver grey feathers. I can still see it now, so beautiful. Make you wonder if once awhile we do look up to the sky, what might we see? So, I bought a Swarvoski crystal blue heron at home just for memory.

Junks
What’s the phase? “ones Junk and others Treasure”? We’ve finished laying the ceramic tiles in the computer’s room and did a major clean up. We decided to throw away all text books ( Grade 13) from both kids. Magazines and short stores books (sorry cin). My husband said he wanted to get rid off the junks but I know cin thinks they are treasure. I managed to save the kids year books. Yeah... Took all diplomas out of the frames and into an album. Threw all frames away even they are in good condition. Never knew cin has so much junks, she would save a receipt from a grocery store. Old calendars 19-- ( figure skating) are gone. I save cin’s kite and baton. Yesterday was like in a battle field with my husband trying to save the kids stuffs. Aren't you guys lucky to have a mom like me?

NEIGHBOUR Why do people insisted in parking their car at the curb when they have a two car driveway? “LAZINESS” is all I can think of. Their self “CONVINCES” disregard others, this is getting on my nerve every time I come home. My neighbour is like this and you can’t tell her anything because she’ll get mad. Her boy was always in trouble at school when my son was a school bus patrol when they’re young. She came to me and asked me to tell my son not to reported Patro because he has received two warnings from school, if one more report he’ll have to walk. She also told me that “I’m a bad mother because I gave out homework along with a schedule for housework (washing breakfast and lunch dishes).” to my kids during the summer break.” My kids are not perfect but at least they finished school, and hers, Patro got kick out of school, police car is often seen parked outside of their house. Thanks for listening. Sigh ......

Memory

It was a beautiful night. The sky was clear and the stars are shining. We were on our way home from a banquet, as we were driving by couple of highway exits, my husband was explaining to me, Hwy. 27 South will get to QEW, Hwy.27 North will get to Woodbine shopping Mall, etc. At that point, a flash of memory came to me. I was home with the kids when they were young. Woodbine Mall then was new and exciting. Cin was 7, Dave was 5 and I had them dressed up to go to the Mall, Cin with her big glasses, pony tails and Dave with his shorts ( chubby legs), baseball cap and away we went. The Mall has a huge beautiful decorated carousel to ride, toot-toot trains that went all over the mall, toys shops, McDonald fast food (was one of the big thing then), restaurants, all kinds of geggis stores and one of them sell stickers that have different types of smell or fragrant. All the kids were crowded over them and was a thing those days. Dave would sit in the stroller and Cin would hung on the stroller and walked beside me. They were very good and well behave, always stayed together and were never cried or fought for stuffs. Not like some kids would throw themselves onto the floor and cry. I used to let the kids take turn in choosing their favours restaurant whenever we were out. ALWAYS, end up in McDonald. We were very closed and loved. A lady came by and told me that my kids are like “little angels”. Now, my angels are all grown up. One flew 5 thousand miles away and one hardly stayed at home. We are no long closed any more! I once read one of my angel said, “ My friends are my family!” Is that mean we are no long family any more? Are we still loved? Often wonder how families could fall apart so easily? Are we parents suppose to be perfect? What happen with those happy time together? Are they forgotten? Or am I just another selfish mother whom can not let go her children?

What did you do on the weekend?

Thursday, April 08, 2004

My boss' phone rang as I got up to go for my coffee break. He was standing by the stairway and say, " Would you answer the phone?" I said as I walked out of the office with the tea cup in my hand, " Hello, we are closed for the rest of the year!" Hee hee.

Fun for the day. I went to shop at Zellers during lunch hr. As I walked in, there’s an old man struggling to get a cart for himself. I waited until he got his cart out but instead he got me a cart as well. I thanked him and I went on. I saw him waiting for me as I was going through the cashier. I said to him with a straight face, “Are you going to open the door for me?” He said, “Oh, I saw you went by very fast and past all the people that were in front of you? (confused). I said, “yeah, (smile) I’m on my lunch hour.” He said, “ What do you do at the fire dept.?”. With straight face I said, “ I’m in Confine Space Rescue”. He said, “Oh, Okay.” He went to open the door for me when he saw me with two handful of groceries. As I walked away, I said, “ Got to go fight fire now, with my high heels” (laugh). He must be so confused by now.
